Nintendo Life Most Anticipated Switch Games 2024
Image: Nintendo Life

Update: Woof! That June 2024 Nintendo Direct was certainly something. We've given this guide a big sweep following the showcase, and now the Switch's 2024 looks positively bursting.

Looking for the best new Nintendo Switch games releasing soon? 2023 was a banner year for the ageing hybrid console, and even if it looks like the Switch is winding down as it approaches its eighth year on the market, there are still plenty of beauties to pick up in 2024.

Another Code, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Princess Peach: Showtime, Endless Ocean, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door got the year off to a slow but steady start. But the rest of 2024 is giving us a brand new Zelda game in the form of Echoes of Wisdom — where Zelda is the main character! — a new Mario & Luigi RPG, and a new Mario Party. And even before that, we have Luigi's Mansion 2 HD and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition plus tons of excellent third-party titles. Maybe 2024 is the year we finally get Silksong?

Which upcoming Switch games have us saving up our Nintendo eShop Gold Points, though? Below we've rounded up 35 (ish... come on, you know we can't just have 35!) of the biggest new Nintendo Switch games coming soon. They run the gamut from AAA first-party offerings to DLC to promising-looking indies. We'll be adding to (and subtracting from) this list as the weeks and months go by.

Let's take a look at our most anticipated Switch games for the months (and years) ahead...

Nintendo Switch Upcoming Games

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Deluxe Edition (Switch)

The Switch has been lacking an Ace Combat game, but come 11th July 2024 that oversight will be rectified: Bandai Namco is finally bringing Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown to Switch in a Deluxe Edition.

First released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC back in 2019, the Switch port will come loaded with a bunch of old DLC, plus there are plans for new DLC, too. It's great to see the series return to Nintendo consoles following the GBA and 3DS entries, and in full-fat form, too. We've got fingers crossed for amiibo support to help liven up our craft with a splash of colour, as in the 3DS game.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (Switch)

Coming to Switch on 18th July 2024, this is an eShop exclusive unless you want the super duper physical Deluxe Edition that we really want but aren't sure we want to pay double the digital's $29.99 price tag for.

What's that? Oh yes, the game. From what we've seen, it looks like an online reworking — a remix, even — of the NES Remix Wii U games with fewer games and some Nintendo World Championships branding thrown in. The NES Remix games were great bite-sized fun, so even though this has the faint whiff of end-gen filler around it, we're excited to see more of this. We were only recently lamenting the absence of the Remix games on Switch:

Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus (Switch eShop)

Probably one of the most gorgeous-looking games coming out in 2024, Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is a hand-drawn Metroidvania inspired by the likes of Hollow Knight, Okami, Celeste, Spirited Away, Demon Slayer, and tons more. Not only that, but Milton Guasti, Esteban Criado and Robert Maloney — who all worked on AM2R — are working on the title. The game reached its Switch Kickstarter goal way back, and we'll be seeing it on 18th July 2024 on Switch.

SCHiM (Switch eShop)

Looking for more chill puzzle-platformers? SCHiM is a completely unique take on the genre, following a little soul who jumps between shadows. The sepia visuals and 3D visuals combine perfectly, and every level tells a different story. Think... SCHiMmy. No? We'll go and hide in the shadows until 18th July 2024, when the game launches.

Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure (Switch eShop)

Stories of self-discovery usually follow a character going on a life-changing journey. But Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure says no to that, and instead of going on an adventure, you — as Jemma — are out there rearranging a world that's full of fear and stagnation. With beautiful visuals, thoughtful puzzles, and narrative beats, we'll be diving into this one on 25th July 2024 on Switch.

Blazing Strike (Switch)

Oozing the effortless style of Neo Geo fighters, Blazing Strike is inspired by classic 2D fighting games, mostly from the kings of the genre — Capcom and SNK. After a few years of silence, we'll be able to dig into this blend of pixel art fighting with modern sensibilities in Summer 2024.

World of Goo 2 (Switch eShop)

We've got a huge soft spot for World of Goo. it was one of the first WiiWare titles, and we fell in love with it for its simplicity and charm. So we were delighted that, 16 years later, World of Goo 2 is coming to Switch. Revealed at The Game Awards 2023, a Partner Showcase said that we'll be getting this on the hybrid console in May 2024, although it's been delayed until 2nd August 2024.

SteamWorld Heist II (Switch eShop)

SteamWorld Heist returns! Taking to the oceans as well as the underground, SteamWorld Heist II sees Captain Leeway and his crew attempting to solve the mystery of the water, which has started decaying the metallic limbs and hearts of the people of the world. With open-world exploration and strategic turn-based combat, this will be the perfect summer adventure when the game launches on 8th August 2024.

Blade Chimera (Switch eShop)

Metroidvania masters Team Ladybug are returning to the genre in 2024 with the gorgeous-looking futuristic action game Blade Chimera. Set in the futuristic Dark Osaka, you'll explore an occult-inspired world which blends the supernatural with cyberpunk. It looks stunning, and we can't wait to get our hands on it in August 2024.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection (Switch eShop)

On 6th September, the whole Ace Attorney series will finally be playable worldwide. Ace Attorney Investigations Collection bundles together the two DS spin-offs that star Miles Edgeworth and delivers enhanced visuals, new language options, and a gallery. Notably, this is the first time Ace Attorney Investigations 2 will be officially playable in English. How's that?

Yars Rising (Switch)

Atari's dive into its retro catalogue continues, this time with the help of Shantae developer WayForward. Yars Rising takes the bug-focused rail shooter and turns it into... a Metroidvania? It looks very different from the previous games in this series, but it looks to play to WayForward's strengths. Yars Rising is coming to Switch on 10th September 2024.

Demonschool (Switch eShop)

We only had a small taste of what Demonschool is all about in our preview in late 2022, but much like its big chompy demon, we're hungry for more. The Persona-like school downtime and the Buffy-esque feeling of being the only ones who can stop the demonic chaos invading our town is enough to get us feeling nostalgic for the 2000s, but the blend of snappy tactics, original visual style, and modern, witty writing has us looking forward to its release on Friday 13th September 2024.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (Switch)

If 2024 is the year of the Wii and 3DS, then we're more than happy to welcome it with open arms. Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a faithful remake of the 2010 Wii platformer which gave the world a more mischievous side to Mickey Mouse. New controls and visuals are just a few of the things we'll get to experience when we paint the canvas on 24th September 2024.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (Switch)

For everyone that has been begging to see Zelda take centre-stage in a mainline Zelda (we certainly have), this one's for you. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom tasks Zelda, not Link, with saving Hyrule. Using the Tri Rod to create 'echoes' — copies of items and enemies — she'll be able to fight enemies and solve puzzles to get to the bottom of the rifts covering the world.

It's got that charming Link's Awakening remake art style and a lovely soundtrack, and it brings the creativity of Tears of the Kingdom to a much smaller scale. It's coming out very soon too — 26th September 2024.
