Since 2017, we've seen a huge number of ports come to Switch, many of which seemed like impossibilities beforehand. Surprises like Doom (2016), which turned up in the system's launch year, and 2019's Witcher 3 showed that while clever optimisation was required, Nintendo's console could deliver perfectly playable and utterly absorbing portable versions of some of the biggest video games around.
As time wore on and Sony and Microsoft's next-gen platforms launched, the Switch ports kept coming — the excellent Pentiment has been a particular highlight this year. We've got our fingers crossed for Ace Combat 7 and Stray, although recent disappointments such as the Batman Arkham Trilogy show that caution is warranted. The Switch is in its eighth year, and the tech within was hardly bleeding edge in 2017.
However, there's still life in the ol' hybrid yet, and besides, many of the games we'd still love to see ported could run perfectly on the current console. There's also the matter of over 140 million systems sold, which means a huge addressable audience for developers considering a Switch port in 2024.
So, as we bask in the summer sun in one hemisphere (and settle down for a cosy winter in the other) with the knowledge of a forthcoming official Switch successor announcement, let's look back for one last blow-out of a 'Please, Nintendo, can we have some more?' — a summer round-up of fantastic games we'd still love to see on Switch that remain Missing-In-Action.
You'll find a mixture of Wii U ports (yes, there are a few still left), some Wii gems that could use the Donkey Kong Country Returns HD treatment, a bunch of third-party classics, plus some personal favourites we just not ready to give up on. We've omitted games that are already playable via Nintendo Switch Online, or anything highly likely to show up there (eg. Diddy Kong Racing).
So, we now present our final Switch port wishlist, in alphabetical order. Which coincidentally means we start with a couple of real pipe dreams...
Alan Wake 2
The first Alan Wake is on Switch in remastered form. It's an unimpressive port, but it signalled Remedy's interest in the console and sparked our fever dreams that the GOTY-winning sequel might stand a chance of coming over.
What are the chances?
A Control-style Cloud Version? Perhaps, although who really wants that? As much as it pains us, this and the next game on the list feel like they'll need more power than the current console can muster if they're to make the jump to Nintendo hardware without severe compromises.
Baldur's Gate 3
Another 2023 GOTY. Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3 struck a nerve with both fans of the series and newcomers, and with both 1 and 2 already on Switch in Enhanced Edition form, completing the BG set would be a treat.
What are the chances?
Very slim - realistically, it's another one for the 'Switch 2' wishlist. If Nintendo's next console is, as had been suggested, an iterative update on the current hybrid, and if third-party devs are gearing up to hit the ground running with ports that aren't tenable on the current model, we could be looking at a launch lineup for the ages! Okay, we're getting ahead of ourselves with that hypothetical. Compels us, though.
Generally speaking, almost any game that launches with a new console sells well thanks to the limited pool of options for early adopters (there's a reason why Ubisoft always gets in early doors with something), so if we were a dev of any size, we'd be considering getting stuck in on day one.
Enough pies in skies. Let's turn to something that the current Switch could run in its sleep.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Not much more to say, really. It feels odd that it's never been on a Nintendo console, and odd that we've had two (excellent) collections but no Symphony.
What are the chances?
There are question marks around the Requiem compilation of Symphony and Rondo of Blood being a Sony exclusive, but we can't see anything stopping Konami releasing a standard, standalone port. Or, you know, investing in the series' most celebrated entry and making it available in sparkling form with extras on all platforms.

No tomadachi life? 😢 glad Yoshi’s woolly world was on there though
Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival Deluxe, please.
Luigi’s Mansion 1 found! I really hope we get it since we have 2 and 3!
My top is A Link Between Worlds. Most played game on 3DS. The replayability is insane. But I would also like Crono Trigger since I've never played it. Also that Disney collection of Capcom games also sounds pretty sweet. Would not be upset if I spent money on that as well.
No Animal Crossing New Leaf on this list
Chances are probably all very low if Nintendo is announcing the successor this fiscal year and they continue their trend of having a release date fairly near the hardware announcement. They already seem to have their products lined up to keep the upcoming holiday stocked with options.
But that's all a good list for the successor, because I'm sure it'll be just as viable a dumping ground for any and all ports. They have a serious cash cow in basically doing what a lot of people use Steam for in collecting older games, except the prices are not rock bottom / they charge a premium for the first party stuff. They'd be smart to keep that going.
I'd have put Kid Icarus Uprising on this list
Hmm, I'm gonna mention Psychonauts. Nintendo fans love inventive and unique 3D platformers, right? The original Psychonauts was on Xbox and PS2 but never got a GameCube version. Would be cool to see it on Switch.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn would be awesome to see, as I remember playing it but my memory can’t recall a bunch of it.. A bit surprising it never got a port, since they seem to be porting more Wii games now.
For me, Tomodachi Life, which seemed to be a very plausible for Nintendo to port, but years later nearing the end of the Switch’s lifespan, it still hasn’t happened yet and I unfortunately feel like it won’t happen at this point. That game was so random and dang stupid and I loved it. If NSO counts, I would absolutely LOVE to see ports of Conker’s Bad Fur Day and Diddy Kong Racing. The former is extremely likely now that there is an 17+ N64 app and the latter does not have an official modern release and is super hard to play emulated without a proper controller.
Lots of these games like Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3 may or may not come to the next Nintendo console. There was only one Souls game on Switch and that was Dark Souls Remastered. So I think Elden Ring is kinda not likely to come to the next console.
At this point, there is no use asking for Yakuza or Mass Effect since its not gonna happen. EA and Sega too adamant on not releasing it on Nintendo consoles. At this point, why bother? Its not gonna come. Ever.
@PikminMarioKirby
I would like to see ACNL port but with ACNH rules: No villagers will moving out by themself.
There’s a bunch of multiplayer focus games I have wishlisted on Steam that I was surprised to see weren’t on the Switch yet: Starwhal, Stardust Vanguards… there’s probably a bunch more that would work perfectly on the most couch multiplayer easy console of all time. As currently my biggest deciding factor on whether to get a game on steam deck, or try to get it on Switch instead, is does it have multiplayer?
Speedball 2 Brutal Deluxe Deluxe. Leave the graphics as is but with widescreen. Add 2 more divisions and a cup to the career mode. And of course, online. Ideally, make it a free game for NSO members, ensuring the online mode is always populated.
And there you go, you've got the greatest sports game of all time.
the fact that Symphony of the Night hasn't been ported to a Nintendo platform yet is so baffling to me
Ready 2 Rumble 1&2 would be nice too.
Symphony of the night is on mobile devices, why is it not on switch jet?
The lack of Chibi Robo in this list is…unsettling. I think you guys have a classic that you should plug into.
I’m shocked that Crow’s Country isn’t on the platform. It’s an excellent game — one I platinumed on the PS5. As for games I would like to see, A Link Between Worlds would be awesome. I’d also want Metroid Prime 2 & 3, along with Windwaker, Twilight Princess, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Dragon Quest 7 & 8, and the Splinter Cell games.
No Kid Icarus Uprising in this list is upsetting. If I can only request ONE, it's that one. I think it can still make it, but at this rate, it would be after the new system's launch. Kid Icarus got a glorious return, only to be left dormant once again for another decade. Correct that, Nintendo!
@TKundNobody Because it's a 3rd party PlayStation exclusive. Sony publishes their games on PC/smartphones these days because they don't see them as direct competitors (although you could argue PC IS a direct competitor to Sony imo).
And it's not like Nintendo is much better when it comes to holding on to 3rd party exclusives. It took 12 years before they allowed REmake and RE Zero to be released on other platforms.

Waited 6 years for TP/WW HD, I could have just bought a Wii U to scratch the itch. But I’ve been holding out! Fml
The only ports I wanna see is to Switch 2.
Overall great list although I also question the absence of Kid Icarus Uprising, the ones I'd like to see the most coming to Switch specifically - I'd think most of these would come to its successor instead for one reason or the other - are Symphony of the Night and the Disney Afternoon Collection because it's wild that those haven't come to it yet!
I've tried waiting for Samus Returns, but it doesn't seem like it's coming at this point. Well, AM2R here I come then!
There are a lot of great games here, but you left off the two I want most!
F-Zero GX
Metroid Prime 2:Echoes
i like to see a remake of the golden sun series on the switch
@anoyonmus i think elden ring is a lock to come to switch 2..
red red redemption 2 should also come to switch 2..
@johnedwin No it isn't imo. There was only one Souls game on Switch and thats Dark Souls. Dark Souls 2 and 3 didn't even come to Switch. Neither did Sekiro.
RDR2 is way more likely to come to Switch than Elden Ring.
Honestly, I don't get the point of including Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's gate 3, games that obviously can't run on the switch shouldn't make the cut.
Illusion of Gaia for me, just think it'd be perfect on the Switch and I would love to revisit
Codename S.T.E.A.M port
@OorWullie
Ice cream! Ice cream!!
Let's see... where is Shenmue?
Many long-time wishlist entries for me here…Half Life 2, Samus Returns, Yoshi Wooly/ Kirby Epic and the Zelda’s all much wanted.
Add to that Shadow Complex, Dead Space, and anything else if got in my “Not on Switch” SteamDeck folder…Castlevania - Mirror of Fate, Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate, CoD Black Ops 2
@anoyonmus i said elden ring will come to switch 2 the game did sell a million copies in japan imagine a switch 2 version will sell millions more then that
There are a few titles on here that I am utterly shocked haven’t made the jump to Switch, but one in particular, Samus Returns, seems like it would do extremely well. They’d be smart to release that or the other Primes before Prime 4 if only to simply build hype.
I understand the Disney Afternoon Collection skipping the Wii U. However, it should have launched on the 3DS (and ported to Switch within a year).
That said, if it isn’t going to be backwards compatible, bring it to Switch 2.0.
Here’s some non-Nintendo games that I’d love to see ported to Switch:
I'd really like to see ExciteBots getting a high-definition makeover. It was one of the most unique racing games out there.
Are you guys putting all the Pokemon games in the NSO box? At this point I'd guess someone in charge specifically doesn't want them there, and that still leaves gen 5-7 trapped in limbo. Also, with any of the more graphically intensive games, or anything that could use a full visual overhaul, I'd rather it just wait for the the next generation. No sense in cramming something big into the Switch's limited hardware when its successor will (hopefully) make for a much more comfortable fit.
At this point in time I really don't want a XCX port on Switch anymore cause I much rather want it on Switch 2 instead
1440p/60fps on Switch 2 vs 900p/30fps on Switch 1 (or whatever the resolutions would be, but you get the point)
I am a diehard Fallout fan, and if the games were on Switch, I'd be all over them. However, I'm also fine with only having them on my PC - mainly because I prefer having access to mods.
Jet Set Radio 100%. I never dug too deep into the game, but that could change if I had it on Switch.
It would be utterly baffling if they didn't tackle a Luigi's Mansion port at this point.
Now, New Super Mario Bros. Wii...I'm not exactly itching to get it. BUT, if it was available, I certainly wouldn't mind a Switch port. Although...some sort of collection would be preferable.
The lack of Punch Out on Switch makes zero sense considering it has motion controls and the joycons would be ideal for the game.
Super Mario Galaxy 2. WHYYYYY did they skip this. I hate having such a dense Mario collection on the Switch and knowing that the SMG 2 void will never be filled. What's the harm in adding it as All-Stars DLC?
Wind Waker HD / Twilight Princess HD, of course. But also...ports of Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D. Same situation as the Mario games. I can think of nothing better than having all the main 3D Zelda titles in one place.
and...a few more (admittedly desperate) possible port ideas I didn't see...
Secret of Mana HD
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Soul Calibur 2 HD
Maybe even Soulcalibur IV?
Bully would be cool to see.
And I'd definitely be all over Star Fox Zero if they decided to revamp it.
All fighting games ever created.
killer7. All Suda51's games in general.
P.N. 03.
Call of Duty HD.
Dragon's Crown Pro.
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows.
Corpse Party -THE ANTHOLOGY- Sachiko's Game of Love ♥️ 2U.
SoniComi.
Danganronpa Another Episode: Absolute Despair Girls.
I want tomodachi life sooo bad. I spent 300 hours in that game.
Speaking of Disney Afternoon Collection, I can't believe Ducktales Remastered has never come to Switch. Another license issue? It just would've been so good to see those games alongside the Aladdin, Lion King and Jungle Book ones that HAVE made it.
#54: TPHD
#53 thru #1: WWHD
Hey, you stole my (and a few others' Vanillaware Collection suggestoons!
Nier Replicant should happen but probably won't for now (and port the mobile game too along with the FF7 Ever Crisis mobile thing). Plus Xenoblade X but again unlikely for now at least.
thinking about chrono trigger and SOTN, among others on this list: if they specifically wanted the public to forget about these beloved classics and move on, and for new generations to never know of them, they couldn't do a much better job.
seriously atari has done a better job keeping battlezone in the zeitgeist.
Yes Duck Tales
Yes Rhythm Heaven
Yes Donkey Konga
HECK YES Sonic Adventure 2
Muramasa, Rhythm Heaven, and WL Shake It on the list makes me smiley.
I think they should hold off until the successor is announced, so it can probably be a day 1 launch on the next Nintendo.
My list:
Dragon's Crown
That is.
BG3? Elden Ring? Alan Wake 2? Guys no. Maybe on Switch 2. All I want is some PS1 JRPG(-ish) ports like Suikoden I+II, Symphony of the Night, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Gravity Rush is my dream port
This reminds me to remind all of you that Wario Land: Shake It is a thoroughly wonderful game.
The Witcher 3.
I'd like to see some of the old Professor Layton games and Super Mario Galaxy 2 being ported. Hopefully the switch will be supported with new games and ports for a while yet as I came to it quite late. I don't intend on getting the next console unless I sell some of the old ones.
I think about this a lot. I feel like any more PS4/5 era titles should wait for S2. I am pretty surprised we have not received FALLOUT 3 / NEW VEGAS by this point. I would love if Ubisoft brought PoP 2008 over. EA would have cleaned up with BAD COMPANY 1/2, MIRROR'S EDGE, and DEAD SPACE. Konami could have easily brought over LORDS OF SHADOW 1 & 2 as well. As for KIRBY'S EPIC YARN.... Wait for S2 so we can have it in glorious 4K/60; those graphics deserve it.
I’d certainly appreciate a Yakuza game or two. Beyond that, the two I would like most of all are collections of the Lords of Shadow and the Middle Tomb Raider collection.
Lost Odyssey would be nice. I’m also itching to give Final Fantasy 13 a go. Oh goodness I could do this all day!
Actually also I’ve always wanted to play Vandal Hearts from the PSOne days. I’ve not a clue how to track that one down but I want it!
To name a few that aren’t on this list:
Kid Icarus Uprising getting another chance with a more comfortable control scheme. The on rail sections were supremely fun rollercoaster rides on the 3DS until your hands cramped.
Similarly, StarFox Zero deserves a second shot. Possibly the best of the SF games to date, only hampered by a control scheme that just takes far to long to get used too (it really works… when you can wrap your brain around it), but a more modernised version could do this game some justice. Really fun time.
Metroid: Other M is also a pretty fantastic Metroid title if you look past what it isn’t. I for one really enjoyed the narrative / story and loved that it took the 2D approach of a Metroid game into 3D in a different way to prime. Would love for this to get HD makeover one day.
F-Zero GX/AX, if you aren’t going to grace us with a brand new fully focused title (bar interim hotness of Fzero 99) then the least you could do is HD port this masterpiece of a racer.
On this list I would love Nier replicant, the old resident evil games and Xenoblade X. Although its been said that putting Xenoblade X on switch would be very difficult with the Wii U game pad part and mainly Nintendo needs to fund this. I have a feeling it could be for switch 2. Probably next year even. But I don’t see it coming to switch 1 at all but I could be wrong. I hope we at least get Nier replicant for switch 2 then if we don’t get it for switch 1. We should definitely have that game after Nier automata
Pokemon Gen 1-3 for NSO
I’d pay a premium price for Star Trek.
The last good Star Trek game I played was on my Amiga and was the original series.
lots of these feel like switch 2 games and it just leaves me hopin and a prayin that the switch 2 is backwards compatible and that standout games from the original switch get reasonably minor improvements on the successor. If they can get this right then this next console may just end up having the best game library of all time
the second Switch 2 is out third parties are going to ditch Switch 1 in a heart beat guarantee
So many great games here that I’d love to see ported. My top 2 would be Chrono Tigger and A Link Between Worlds. Then my top 10 favorite games of all time would be available for me on the Switch!
@KBuckley27 there will be a decrease, as to be expected, but it won’t be a total abandonment, especially if Switch 2 is backwards compatible. Not all games need the technological increase, and why alienate the Switch 1 install base.
Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Disney Afternoon Collection, Jet Set Radio, Madworld, and Pizza Tower make a lot of sense and could still happen.
@mattesdude vast majority of third parties for over 7 years haven't put their latest games on Switch why would they all of a sudden put their big games on Switch 1 when the next console comes out when it will likely be easier to port to that system than the current Switch? they are clearly OK ignoring the current Switch audience but next problem not
Portal and Shadow of colossus have always been on my list. I knew they would never come to a Nintendo system… but then portal arrived. Maybe I can hope for shadow of the colossus. Always been on my play list.
@KBuckley27 because the current switch is incapable of porting many third party games without huge sacrifices..
"Developers should hold back for the next Nintendo console".
No, they shouldn't. Between a console that has proved itself (and has a large userbase) and a console that isn't guaranteed to succeed, developers shouldn't abandon the Switch in a heartbeat just because the successor has better specs.
If the Switch can't run the game in question? Sure. But, there is no good reason to skip games that could run fine on the Switch, just because it's old news. Take a look at Playstation 4. They are still releasing games for the system, even though it's now 11-years-old and had its successor released 4 years ago.
If Nintendo wants to pretend that the Switch will no longer exist past 2025, fine, they can repeat that mistake. They shouldn't be surprised if they end up with a Switch U.
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with what the Switch has gotten, port wise. There's Persona 3 Reload, but I have a hunch that we'll see it on the successor (hope I'm not wrong).
Other than that, I'd like to see Koei Tecmo give the earlier Fatal Frame games the HD remaster treatment.
54 ports before the generation ends? That's like 5 years worth of games minimum!
(It's a good list though. I reckon we'll see a fair few next gen.)
ZombieU I thought was a Great game with unrealised potential.
I also thought Red Steel was underrated and would benefit from a switch release .
@Pizzashapes I agree with both. Red Steel 2 was awesome and ZombiU was a great idea that could use a polish. I enjoyed both
I want want a Dread style remake and Metroid 4
Not starting my own portbegging list past midnight here since it's nigh bottomless and I reiterate the top tier of it before every Direct anyway. But it's a bit odd to see the article set up arbitrary deadlines for such ports before the beginning of Gen 10 while simultaneously discussing Kirby's Epic Yarn 3DS release two years into Gen 9. There are undoubtedly a whole bunch of projects still in the oven, and abandoning their target platform in favour of newer hardware is only so imaginable since we aren't talking Vita with its estimated Wii U ballpark sales here. Likewise, there is no shortage of awesome pastgen stuff that wouldn't challenge Switch's realistically robust hardware (spec/graphics fetishists need not apply) unless its respective contractors deemed "optimization" to mean something edible, and this year is getting yet more of those like Ace Combat 7, Ace Attorney Investigations and Epic Mickey.
@mariomaster96 1440p on a portable machine?🤔 Even Steam Deck proves a 800p screen to suffice, and it's a relative doorstopper otherwise.
"Which coincidentally means we start with a couple of real pipe dreams..."
I don't get what the coincidence is here.
@X68000 - Perhaps, sure. But what about this one….
RHYTHM HEAVEN?
1. The rest of the old Quest Ogre Battle / Tactics Ogre games.
2. Dark Forces 2
3. The Super Star Wars Trilogy
4. Shadows of the Empire
5. Rogue Squadron games
(There might be a theme there)
6. Wind Waker (preferably all 3)
7. Twilight Princess
8. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Is Kid Icarus Uprising on this list? Did I miss it?
And Kirby Rainbow Curse would be lovely.
I have no doubt that the vast majority of these will be ported to the Switch 2.
@_Figo_ o you and me both
"given that 3D World improved on this in every single way"
Strongly disagree. As it wasn't designed for mulitplayer, the levels in Land are much tighter.
Why no Star Fox, Pushmo, Wave Race, 1080 or Dr. Mario?
Fire Pro Wrestling. Easily.
@Paulo Yeah, Pushmo! We need a port or a new game or something. It's been years!
Still would like the first Blue Reflection, Trails in the Sky trilogy, Vagrant Story HD, and Xenogears HD.
mario kart arcade gp 1,2 and dx w gyro controls. arcade vr w labbo.
@Mallow9623 I honestly thought that Pushmo for Switch was a given since the early days. But Direct after Direct, nothing.
I would love a port of Xenoblade Chronicles X, I've wanted one since the Switch launched. Would love a Symphony of the Night port, and I'd add a Breath of Fire III port to the list.
Surprised the FF7 remake isn't on here, I did read that it's possibly coming to Switch 2.
I know everyone is going to have a game or two that they think should’ve made the list here but one I’m really suprised didn’t make the cut is f-zero gx. It’s something we nearly always hear a good number of people mention in hopes of being a reveal in an upcoming direct. That would be a big one for me. Some other mentions I’d love to have access to on my switch are timesplitters 2 & 3, gauntlet legends dark legacy, rare replay, simpsons hit and run, X-men legends 1 & 2, marvel ultimate alliance 1 & 2, castlevania DS collection, Castlevania SotN and Rondo of blood dual pack, tatsunoko vs capcom, Metal Arms, Freedom Fighters, Def Jam FfNY.
Castlevania (DS collection)
Chibi-Robo
Kirby: Planet Robobot
Power Stone 1&2
Star Fox Adventures
GTA4 with expansions would be great chillin’ handheld
Why isn’t Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Switch? Probably because it makes much more use of the Wii’s pointer controls. And I think we can safely say after Skyward Sword et al. that pointer controls are garbage on Switch. They drift so quickly and require such frequent recalibration that they’re effectively unusable.
Leaving Tomodachi Life off of this list is criminal.
I'd like MK IX please. Not much else. The Switch has a pretty perfect library.
I'm port begging for Star Fox Assault & Adventures which I've never played Adventures. Let's get F-Zero GX which I've never played either.
I want Yoshi's Woolly World to come to Switch with recent amiibo compatibility so I can become Wolf-Yoshi, finally. I also want Star Fox Zero to get another chance with revamped controls & Wolf amiibo support.
Maaaaaaaaybe, TomoDacHi Life with no changes to the bad language because its funny to sing songs about it where I'm trying & failing not to laugh over it. The QoL changes I want for it is to prevent divorces if said miis don't have kids so pull a New Horizons where I have to approve of it if I happen to put the game down for however long I take & give us a chance to give our miis different accents so no one sounds like nearly identical with the robot voices.
Guilty Gear Strive
The Switch library has not disappointed by any definition. But my final wishes would be:
N64-ROX wrote:
It seems to me that Nintendo is suspiciously avoiding putting GameCube games on the Switch.
My prediction, is that when they announce the "Switch 2", they will announce they are adding GameCube games to the NSO, but only available on the new console, to drive sales of the new box.
No Tomodachi Life, or Monster Hunter 3U...
Also no Fortune Street.
What we need is a remake of...
SSX Tricky!
(Or maybe beter to save for Switch 2)
Just give me Castlevania DS collection and I'll die happy. I don't even really care about Symphony, it's good but all of the ds games are better games. Rondo though...
Here's my personal list of remaining ports I'd love to see:
•Wind Waker HD
•Twilight Princess HD
•Kid Icarus Uprising
•Pac-Man World 2
•Super Mario Galaxy 2

•Luigi's Mansion

•Tri Force Heroes
And, if Nintendo ever decides to add GameCube titles to NSO, I'd love to see gems like Melee, Double-Dash, Mario Party 4-7, Four Swords Adventures, and Wario World that otherwise won't be getting ported.
I'd be very surprised if Xenoblade Chronicles X wasn't been developed right now but I still think it'll come out on the Switch successor.
@MontyCircus I dunno about that. In the past year alone, we've had Metroid Prime, Pikmin 1 and 2, and Paper Mario: TTYD all come to Switch. Doesn't look to me like they're avoiding GameCube games.
I'd love to see GameCube titles come to NSO; added online play for games like Melee and Double-Dash would be sick! But I think Nintendo has a good number of remakes/remasters they could still do first. The HD versions of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are the definitive way to play those games. GameCube ports wouldn't be my ideal way to revisit them.
I think Luigi's Mansion and the first two Chibi-Robo games would look amazing with a fresh coat of paint and wouldn't be surprised if at least the latter is actively being worked on. Then, of course, people have been asking for F-Zero GX, but I don't know how much it would need a remaster as opposed to just being added to NSO, so I could see that one going either way. But Metroid Prime 2 could perhaps get the remaster treatment or at least release in a physical collection alongside 3.
I think Nintendo can coast off remakes/remasters of GameCube titles for the next year or two, and then maybe they'll shift their focus to GameCube NSO. I'd rather it come sooner than later, but at the same time, I also still want more remakes and don't see Nintendo doing both simultaneously.
Granted, they could just not put the games they remake on NSO for a very long time. Like how we still don't have the original versions of Super Mario RPG or Mario vs DK.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the huge one for me. Perplexing that we are unlikely to see this ported to the Switch.
I'd love to see the definitive editions of the all time great Zelda games, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. The excellent 3DS versions. Those ought to be ported to the Switch.
Excitebots! Never came to Europe. Still waiting in hope of an unlikely port one day. Symphony of the Night, Soul Hackers 2 are others that are perplexing as to why they haven't come to the Switch. Hopefully Switch 2 games.
Tekken and Soul Calibur series where are you? Two of my all time favs of the genre!
Any DQ games from V onwards would be welcome. As would the stellar Kirby Triple Deluxe. I loved Wario Land Shake It, but would prefer a sequel (or a no.6 in the Wario Land series, is it?).
I'm not to bothered about playing the superb Twilight Princess for the fourth time but I'd take Windwaker HD all day everyday on the Switch. I was hoping we'd have some news of that by now. Metroid Prime 3 remake would be nice as Metroid Prime 1 remake was/is an easy 10 for me.
Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed Deluxe, Crash Nitro Kart and Diddy Kong Racing would be awesome. The 3 best non-Mario Kart Kart racers for me.
This is totally just wishful thinking, but now that the LEGO Horizon game is coming to Switch, I'm frothing at the mouth thinking about the possibility of other Sony properties coming to Switch. I mean, Xbox does it, so... I can dream, right?
Jak and Daxter, Sackboy, Astro Bot, Sly Cooper, and Ape Escape would all feel right at home on a Nintendo platform. I'm sure those games would do incredibly well. PlayStation is already porting their games to PC anyways.
I know this is unrealistic, but... that's also what I thought about getting the Crash N Sane Trilogy on Switch, getting Cuphead on Switch, getting a remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom, getting Ty the Tasmanian Tiger ported to Switch, getting Katamari Damacy on Switch... there's been no shortage of my seemingly nonsensical fantasies coming true this generation. Even just having a handheld-console hybrid like we all wanted. We're living in the best era of the best timeline where I feel like nothing is impossible.
Guardian Heroes for the love of Pete.
Rez was mentioned so let’s hear some for Lumines Supernova. Really underrated entry.
Xenoblade Chronicles X remake please (or port but I think it's a prime target for a remake considering its massive scope).
Last Story, but not Pandora's Tower? Complete the trio!
I have zero hope for it, and I can't imagine it'd sell, but it'd be incredibly funny if they put the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy on as the last remaining mainline FFs missing that could feasibly run on Switch.
Please for the love of Pete, stop porting games to the Switch, and let it go out peacefully. It is limping to the announcement of its successor. Unless you play indie games or Nintendo games on there only, the Switch's age is very evident.
Gimme NiER Replicant, Kingdom Hearts (not cloud), and senran Kagura and I'm happy.
I wouldn't mind that open world Mad Max game that was on PS3 or PS4.
it was great fun and I wouldn't mind playing it again on Switch ❤️
I'm surprised they didn't use this article to simp one more time for Star Fox Zero. A lot of writers just can't accept that it was a bad game. The one game on this list I would love an expanded port (wouldn't buy it if there's nothing new beyond a graphical upgrade) is Excite Bots. I love that game! Of course I'd be even happier if they made an all new Excite Bots 2.
Metroid Prime 2
Metroid Prime 3
The Wind Waker HD
Twilight Princess HD
I can honestly just dump both the Wii and Wii U at that point as I'll have no use for either now that DK Country Returns is coming to Switch I picked up the Switch version of Tropical Freeze this week, my Wii U version doesn't get played and all my other Wii U games are either on the Switch or on more powerful hardware I already own.
Edit: ok Madworld from the Wii i want in HD, we got screwed on that game in the UK and it was only PAL 50hz with massive borders and of course the console was region locked so we couldn't just import the NTSC version
Can we get a remaster/port of Hybrid heaven? Heavily underrated game.
I think the Good-Feel games’ tying of their charm to their graphics mean that these games (Wario, Kirby, Yoshi) would be amazing in 4K which is something Nintendo gamers don’t typically care that much with first party titles. I’d like to see these wait for future hardware. I’d rather have XCX in 4K, too.
I’ll second Time Splitters 2 and Future Perfect and third Soul Calibur 2 w/ Link (since of course any non-Nintendo ports wouldn't have him as a fighter).
My original contribution here is what I've recently said, Perfect Dark remaster from Xbox 360. Given the number of hard-won unlocks with games like that, I don't want to trust my progress to NSO intergenerational consistency.
@LastFootnote If Switch 2 incorporates a sensor bar of sorts in the dock, there are many point and click or motion controlled games that could fill in the next gen release calendar. Lots of the more interesting third party Wii games would be good candidates. Maybe Monkey Island is waiting on that, for example.
I'd have loved a Sonic Advance trilogy collection or even added to Nintendo Online. Add Gunstar Super Heroes and Kingdom Hearts COM to Online too.
A lot of games i want i know are pipedreams. Things like a Sonic Adventure and Heroes collection, the PSP GTAs and GTA 4 even if they aren't remasters, the Mirror's Edge games. All games i would love to have portably.
All I’m hoping for honestly is wind Waker.
I would love punch out but honestly I would not count on it, in today’s climate it possibly would be torn to shreds for the silly depictions of all the boxers.
But i would love for a punch out dx that includes doc Louis !!!
Symphony of the Night and Chrono Trigger are the most surprising ones still to me. Personally I think CT HD2D is coming once the DQ remakes are out.
I don't understand this list. As you say, there are a ton of games you list here that have no chance of showing up on Switch and that you're actually really wishing for on Switch 2 rather than Switch. But that's not the title of the post. Yet you're missing clear fan favourite picks. Makes it seems like no thought was put into it.
Crow Country could show up in the November Indie World Showcase, Resident Evil 2 could be added to N64 Online if nothing else, Silent Hill could see a Master Collection with the PS1 iso of 1 and the HD Collection 2 & 3 using the same engine as Metal Gear Vol. 1, Mass Effect Legendary Edition was spotted on a rating's board a while back, Kirby's Epic Yarn is one of the most likely games to see a Switch port due to it fitting the pattern of recurring titles previously sold on three systems in a row, and Xenoblade Chronicles X will appear at the February Direct and release in Summer 2025 for its 10th anniversary.
Xenoblade X please Nintendo.
Well TIL that the team that made Snipperclips also made Tangle Tower and Crow Country. What a strange (and great) catalogue!
Elden Ring is one of my favorite games of all time so I would be so happy if it comes to Switch 2. I would gladly double dip for that. Also that Castlevania collection would be pretty juicy
Port Killer7, and then the Switch library will be complete!
In the name of Harman...
@olliemar28, i did did get my conga's working via wiiu gc adapter with the Taiku drum games
@KBuckley27 Your first comment was talking about third parties that are going to ditch Switch, which implies they are the ones that are still supporting it. Your 2nd comment refers to the “vast majority” of third parties not currently supporting.
All I’m saying is that while we will see a decrease in support, it won’t be the total abandonment you predict, especially if Switch 2 is backwards compatible. That’s why we’re still seeing a ton of newer games that work on PS4. Also, think of games like Just Dance. Heck, the Wii got one of these not too long ago. I didn’t say, or mean, that companies would start trying to port their AAA games.
DARK SOULS 2! Pleeease it was a goddamn PS3 game, the Switch could easily run it.
Also Xenoblade XCX
@EarthboundBenjy Love where your head is at with that one! I'm working on a video version of this list so I'm going to toss it in there
I would really want to see a mario kart editor and online lobbies with those tracks! That would be awesome if we could make our own tracks and cups and also play every mario kart series on the switch in like one game, yes.
The tournaments we could host would be great, howeve online lobbies in mario kart 8 delux for once need to be fixed a it because you bump into someones item even if on your screen it never touches you. So actually it has to touch you on your screen for it to count I think, because oth3rwose it is luck based and that is never fun.
My personal list
Soul Caliber 2 HD, add a Hyrule stage for Link. Also add his BOTW outfit
Nintendogs + Cats
Fire Emblem Awakening Remaster
Kid Icarus Remaster
New EarthBound in 3D with real time turn base battles.
Final Fantasy 13
Dead or Alive Dimensions using the soft engine. Or add previous DOA classic games.
Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D HD. I personally liked the added details in this version. I wouldn’t mind them using the graphic art style that the first Hyrule Warriors was using for in game models. Otherwise I wouldn’t mind seeing an adaptation following the manga that gave Link party members on some quest.
Nioh Collection
Zelda Four Sword Adventures
Tatsunoko VS Capcom
Wario World
Tenchu
Rez would have been great with Labo VR...
Dead Space 2008 would have been nice
@shgamer How is SOTN a Sony exclusive? There’s already a Saturn version.
I doubt that years later Sony suddenly spent money to then keep it off of other platforms going forward.
