One of those games where I never got around to playing it… and honestly still don’t have time to play it. Wish we had more time.

If it wasn’t LR, I would get this.

I hope the game runs well on switch. Only interested in the game, not the fluff from limited run.

I might risk ordering the tatless version. Anyone from the UK recently ordered from LRG? How were the postage costs and import duty?

@GrailUK Me neither. Besides missing out on The Messenger. But I just didn't pay attention back then. Nothing but positive experiences since.

@LikelySatan The Messenger wasn't through Limited Run Games, that was Special Reserve Games.

@GrailUK They're fine if you stick to their in-stock items. I sometimes buy from them when they have restock sales, and all of those orders have shipped quickly. But if you pre-order, well...

I've only pre-ordered one item from them - the PC re-release of Maniac Mansion. Ordered it in March of 2023, and it began shipping in March of this year.

I say, "began shipping," as my copy still hasn't shipped yet. Even though many copies have since flooded eBay, and plenty of influencers seem to have gotten theirs already. When I contacted LRG, I was told that orders ship in batches, and mine would ship at a later date.

That was three months ago. No progress since. My order page even says it's in-stock and ready to ship.

So, pre-order if you want, but know that you aren't guaranteed to receive your order on the release date - or months after the fact. Frankly, I wish I'd just gotten mine from an eBay seller from the get-go, because at least I would have it by now!

Oh, and there was also that thing where they were shipping "Collector's Edition" copies of games on CD-Rs, without notifying anyone ahead of time that they would be doing so. But that's another story...

@notreallyhere If your only problem is a lack of patience, then I'll carry on regardless lol. I think they are really good in waiting to make somehing until the game has final patches etc. So they are complete on cart. That's well worth waiting for in my book.

@GrailUK for preorders at least they take ages to fulfill, delay often and provide few updates to the status. I had a preorder get delayed significantly (well past the supposed release date) with them and it took over a year for the order to be fulfilled. I deal with delays as I order from Japan and First4Figures often but never that bad except with Limited Run. Especially since one of the items I ordered was already on the eshop at the time. I promised myself after that I would never order from them again. They have made me more digital focused.

@Ryu_Niiyama They wait for patches. If a game is due a patch, they'll delay manufacture. I am totally fine with that

Patience is one thing. Feeling as if I've been misled is another.

If LRG had been more transparent, in that not all orders would ship on (or near) the actual release date, I would have at least had a better idea of what I was signing up for.

I would be fine with a modest shipping delay, and an explanation. But an extended delay with no explanation is frustrating, to say the least.

It's not like the actual release date got delayed, meaning that everyone has to wait a little longer. Some got their orders on release. Some didn't. And some still haven't gotten theirs months later.

In this case, I think I am fair to feel slighted.

As far as patches, Maniac Mansion is 37 years old. I think It's already gotten all of the updates it's going to get

Haha, LRG. Last time I wanted to buy there something, my credit card was blocked. Turned out that my bank banned any LRG transactions and labeled it as shady company. I had some explaining to do when I tried to unblock my card lol.

Since it's Limited Run Games, I'll stick with my Gamecube version.

Admittedly I've not studied reviews of this version closely, but from memory, there's not much difference between this and the earlier versions. Considering the other LRG releases I've passed on, this one doesn't seem essential. And that collector's edition... no.

That clinches it. Digital for me! I don't have any faith that LRG will fulfill their target shipping date. The last thing I ordered from them was a blind box for Vita. It took over a year. My daughter was conceived and born in less time. Unless you're padding your backlog, there's no incentive to buy from LRG. Celeste and Golf Story both appeared at my local Best Buy shortly after I received them from LRG... and they were cheaper.

I'm going to miss out on Star Wars: Dark Forces

I'll try and get this one...

$125 for a budget title and a bunch of junk.

I was considering of getting this as a physical release, but I don't wanna wait 6 months or more still before I actually get to play it, so I guess I'll go for the digital version.

I’m an LRG fan for the most part, but they also love making a bunch of trash too don’t they?

LRG’s model doesn’t work for the average customer. Releasing so much later means you have to a) not be too keen on the game in the first place or b) buy twice, which most of their customers probably do.

And somehow I can never fully shake the “unofficial” vibe I’m getting from them. Outsourcing special editions to a special edition company makes it way less exciting. Somehow.

I will bow and get this from Limited Run, but only the game.
Will finally get around to playing the game.
