Sony's Horizon series is coming to Switch in Lego form. As rumoured before today's Summer Game Fest's opening showcase, LEGO Horizon Adventures does indeed exist, but the big surprise is that it's coming on day one to Nintendo's Switch.
Scheduled to launch Holiday season 2024, this game is co-developed by Guerrilla, the studio behind the Horizon series, and Studio Gobo. Described as "a playful and light-hearted story inspired by the events of the world of Horizon," you'll control a Danish plastic version of series protagonist Aloy in a game "designed for two-player action without the need for split-screen."
Here's some more blurb courtesy of Sony's PlayStation blog:
In a distant future, the land is made of LEGO bricks and incredible dinosaur-like machines roam the Earth. Aloy, the game’s leading hero, is found in a cave as a baby and raised by a grizzled huntsman called Rost, who teaches her the way of the wilds. One day, Aloy embarks on a quest to discover her true destiny. Guided by a thousand-year-old hologram of a scientist called Elisabet, Aloy must confront Helis, the leader of a group of sun worshipers who bow to an Ancient Evil shrouded in mystery. There’s much more in store for Aloy and her friends, as their adventure sends them across the tallest mountains and deepest cauldrons — all beautifully recreated in LEGO elements.
Surprised? We certainly were. Let us know below if you like the look of this one.

This is… interesting.
This wasn't on my Bingo Card.
I guess Sony are…
…broadening their Horizons
Well, this is certainly a surprise. Certainly did not expect to have Horizon in any shape or form on the Switch.
LOL, uh that's random. Then again, Lego Rock Band exists, so anything is possible. 😂
First Xbox games on Playstation, and now a Playstation game on Switch?! Maybe they could bring over Ratchet and Clank and Astrobot as well, if they will continue to go multi-platform now
After thinking about it I think it's actually a pretty smart marketing move. The series has some broad appeal in terms of its characters and setting and Lego on its own is also a draw, so putting it on Switch might work to make some people curious enough to look into the main games on PS5 or PC.
Instant BAN from me. 🙄
I never like that 1st party Sony game, make them as LEGO character just made me really disgusted.
@larryisaman Just need the Horatio Caine putting on the sunglasses gif.
Yet another PS IP on a Nintendo platform
At this rate, having Gravity Rush and Ape Escape on the next Nintendo platform seems plausible
This is such a fascinating timeline, I can't wait to see what happens next
Probably a contractual obligation from the Lego company to put it on at least Switch, similar to MLB mandating The Show becoming multiplatform.
@FragRed YEEEEEAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Did not have this on my bingo card. I guess I'll buy this one on Switch for the novelty.
Never played either of the Horizon games, but might check this out. Is this a sign of more PS games coming to Nintendo? Would love to see the new Astrobot on Switch/Switch 2.
Question is will Sony release more games on Switch and the Switch 2?
@KryptoniteKrunch Would be cool if the Switch 2 see's the mainline entries hit it as they're great.
Horizon is still on my backlog but I've enjoyed overall lego games (and the skywalker saga ran really well on switch). Really interested.
Doubtful. This is less a First Party title on Switch and more a Lego game dressed in a Horizon Skin that is probably what made the bridge to Switch possible.
Still, stranger things have happened…
That being said - this game looks UTTERLY charming. I’m incredibly happy to see a cherpy and more derpy version of Aloy played by the same actress. That’s got to have been fun.
Woah, I certainly didn't expect that one.😳😆 Such news could drive me to expect Gravity Rush dilogy on Switch with a much straighter face... unless... eh, scratch that, EVEN if that also had to be a Lego incarnation.😄
Certainly putting this on my wishlist as we- oh wait, @Anti-Matter just banned it above, guess I'm out of luck here.😿😏
Switching platforms, I see.
What. No, I have nothing else to say. That's it, man, I'm just that dumbfounded.
Makes sense. (A) it's not the main Horizon series (B) a lot of Switch players are younger which is the main target market for the Lego games. Also, this may entice some Switch-only players to buy a PS5 if they want the FULL Horizon experience.
How would you guys feel if they'd make a Lego Mario, Lego Amimal Crossing or Lego Zelda game and put it on all platforms?
@sanderev
I don't even want LEGO Mario or Animal Crossing or even LEGO Zelda.
They will not look appealing for me.
I prefer LEGO CITY as I don't like a lot of popular franchise crossover.
Mostly, popular stuffs means bad quality / terrible stuffs in my definition.
@Steel76 I want Forbidden Siren and Kuon on Switch...
This is so incredibly random... and really not in a good way.
Not being on Xbox is an amusing little bit of spite, but Sony CONTINUEING to try and push Aloy specificlaly as an "icon of gaming" just seems.. sad and petty. To go to THIS degree to try and make her "hip and relatable with the youth" is just, it's kinda pathetic honestly.
Things I Never Expected Part One:
THIS lol
Releasing it on everything but Xbox is so freaking funny. Unfortunately this is the highlight of the show.
I'm glad this is on Switch where couch co-op Lego games belong. I almost never double dip on games but this looks different enough. Plus couch co-op means I can play it with my wife. Getting it on PS5 though, I have to imagine it will run and look better on there on our 4k Tv.
Up next: Lego Breath of the Wild is coming out on Xbox and PS5
Removed - disrespecting others
@Anti-Matter it's a really reasonable point of view. However, aren't you the enjoyer of half-baked licensed cash grabs published by Outright Games?
@sorraks
The games from Outright Games are not half baked cash grab games in my defence.
I have quite a lot of games by Outright Games, on PS4 and PS5 and the games played well on PlayStation machines.
I still keep following their channel on YouTube.
Any upcoming kids games by Outright Games, as long still looks appealing for me since from first impression, I will consider the games.
I think this could be the start of more Lego games based of Playstation franchises, especially if it sells well. Maybe we will get some Lego Nintendo games as well in the future.
Huh!?
Like, I get it from a target-audience standpoint but....HUH!?!?!?
Confusion aside, it does look like just as much of a delightfully goofy romp as the other modern LEGO games. I definitely feel like it leans more towards the 'LEGO' part of the title than the 'Horizon' bit but it still looks immensely charming all the same.
Does this mean there's even just a small... teeny, tiny chance that we could see some of Sony's other IP on a Nintendo platform? I mean, they're putting their games on PC. Maybe they're starting to not view Nintendo as a direct competitor like how Xbox has put a bunch of their titles on Switch.
Being able to play games like Sly Cooper and Jak and Daxter on the go is the dream. I could finally die a happy man.
I'd be happy to see a sequel to Lego City Undercover!
I would guess Sony looked at the numbers of where family gamers were playing on, and noticed not many where on the PS5.
You would have to think the game could sell better on the Switch than the PS5.
@MatthewH85 same here! Lego City Undercover was super fun!
The only good game from the entire show, and the Switch confirmation was definitely a surprise
What the actual fudge
@MrGawain It would be hilarious if this sells better on Switch.
The Lego works in mysterious ways....
this would be like mlb the show sony had no choice but to make it available to the switch...
@Lizuka
You are so spot on about Lego Horizons.
As some young Switch owners get older they move onto the big flash consoles.
And Horizon Lego gives them that link to PS5.
It’s actually a smart move by Sony.
Too bad they couldn't get Aloy's real voice actress...
@Slain
That is what Sony wants. Sell millions on Switch then young Switch owners get a link to PlayStation and PS5 when they move onto senior school and want a big persons console.
It’s a smart move by Sony.
@OldGamer999 - I think they're looking for a PS6 link over a PS5 by this point. By the time the game gains momentum, and notoriety, Sony may be gearing up to push a new system with a fresh outlook in contrast to the struggles PS5 had.
If we are talking about kids "getting older" being part of that marketing scenario.
This coming to Switch was a huge surprise.
We not only got a Horizon game on the Switch, it’s a cross-platform current generation game that isn’t coming to Xbox.
Was honestly expecting Spider-Man to go multi-platform than Horizon (albeit a kid friendly spin-off.) Color me interested!
@abbyhitter It’s Life is Strange all over again.
@Zeebor15 Swear it's just no pleasing some of you.
@Paraka
That could be true, either way it gets that connection to PlayStation for a young Switch audience to buy a PlayStation when they get older.
I’m a little surprised Nintendo didn’t see this and think mmmmmmmm.
Uh. . .ok. I thought Lego Minecraft was gonna happen before this.
That being said, where my MCC for Switch? Cmon, I need Halo games on the go.
@Rafie Astro. Annual Astro Bot and making Asobi a full blown Japan Studio again will please me.
Nintendo let Sony make the Zelda movie so this is Sony returning the favor by giving Switch owner a taste of Horizon, well not the real one but a LEGO version of it.
@Serpenterror Sony making games and Sony making movies are two separate entities.
OK, now cue the inevitable "Aloy for Smash 6!" clamoring...Intensify it if such clamoring somehow already existed...
@Chaos_Knight They still return the favor. They could had port the game to Xbox instead but choose not to. Nintendo could had Paramount or Peter Jackson made the new Zelda movie instead but choose not to.
Game looks cute.
“Requires PSN account to play on Nintendo Switch.”
ALOY! Not of the Nora, I am ready to kick bricks!
(Please let Seyka be in this…)
I am beyond hyped! If Seyka is in it though, I am buying twice.
Feels so weird to have the franchise that directly competed against Breath of the Wild on the same machine seven years later. Looks like it could be pretty neat.
Why does this game look so unhinged
At first I thought this would be an expansion to Lego Fortnite, but then I realized it's an actual separate Lego game, a PlayStation franchise coming to Switch... things got pretty surprising there
@SteveDaSteve uhh, maybe the hotdog guy?
@Ashina Sadly we're not going to get new games in either of those series. Sony kinda shut down their Japanese studios a few years back.
This actually looks like it could work well. I generally like most of the LEGO video games so, we'll see
Has it definitely been confirmed that Sony are publishing the Switch version? I can't see anything official to corroborate this?
Honestly I hope this means we get more Lego game crossovers that are just marvel, dc, and Star Wars…..look I just want a Lego sonic or Mario game lol
Makes me wonder how Sony is even okay with this, considering that Horizon is a first-party IP for them. Yeah, the series has been released on Windows, but you'd think they would have been more hesitant to put it on Nintendo, considering their rivalry.
This just feels weird, with horizon being such a serious franchise and all. When they were showing off you build a town it feels so mismatched with the IP.
I'm a Lego fan but it feels like they're throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks at this point.
The Bosses and Mechanical Beasts in Lego does look fantastic, I will say
@abbyhitter it IS the original actress! Ashley Burch in the flesh!
Quite the surprise, but definitely a welcome one, if it's good also on Switch I'll eventually play it for sure!
I don't think Aloy will have a gf in this version of Horizon
@OldGamer999 I don't think Nintendo's got anything to worry about. Horizon's not that great a game. It would take a lot more than that to sell Playstation.
I haven't been this surprised since Cloud Strife appeared in Smash.
@Steel76 need a lego ratchet and clank. Don't think rift apart will work well on the switch.
Surprised as rumour has it another harry potter game in development spin of hbo series. Didn't want another harry potter game did play them both even that never watched the movie or read the books tbh I buy every Lego game. Even if not a clue what it about. This one will be to. Know it a Sony exclusive my friend loves this game. Hant got a clue what it about but I want it cos it Lego
Watched trailer got a bit of idea now . I thought funny how xbox been. Left out the picture. Well remind me when Lego city under cover exclusive too Wii u . That makes me cross was going buy Wii u just for that Lego game
The last great LEGO game was LEGO Marvel Superheroes, everything since then have been somewhere between 'kind of enjoyable' and 'actual pain'.
Cue basement dwellers complaining that the Lego figure isn't hot enough
@AstroTheGamosian "Makes me wonder how Sony is even okay with this, considering that Horizon is a first-party IP for them."
I thought the same until i really thought about it.
I think Sony will be more than alright about it. Its only a spin off of their main IP afterall and it will sell absolute gang busters on switch, even compared to PS5 sales and as Oldgamer stated it also gives the younger target audience a tie to a big Sony exclusive IP and the possibility of said audience possible wanting to expierience the main IP meaning PS5 console sales. Its a very smart business move but as a switch owner and a PS5 main gamer im really pleased that its coming to the switch. I would love switch owners to be able to expierience some more of Sonys games, past and present. Gravity rush, Jak and daxter, Astrobot etc.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Maybe so, but that would be like putting Mario Kart on Xbox. I don't think Nintendo would be okay with that. As it is, look at how long it took them to put games on mobile devices, and even then, they barely even support that platform, having not put out a new game for mobile devices in years.
But the thing is, there are very few first-party exclusives on the PS5 right now (I read a recent report saying that there were only a dozen or so). And while 59.3 million units sold is impressive, compared to other PlayStation consoles (the Vita notwithstanding) that's dismal. If anything, the PS5 is finding itself falling into the same trap as the Wii U, leading to fewer people adopting the platform. The pandemic didn't help things, either. So there's very little reason for people to want a PS5 if there are not enough good exclusives for it. As it is, the only reason why I have my PS5 is because I won it in a raffle at a work party.
Darn it I really wanted the game to be a behind-the-shoulder third-person perspective 😩
Ah well. It still looks like a great Minecraft Dungeons-like, and the art direction seems to offer the most authentic LEGO video game experience with the mini figures performing in a "realistic" way, without acting so bendy like in most LEGO video games. Actually prefer this direction over other LEGO games trying to twist mini figures into performing like actual people. Lean into the quirky, click-y structure of LEGO!
With such a wild collaboration, I can't help but feel very excited about the future of LEGO collaborations, and I can only dream of Nintendo IP getting the LEGO treatment. Before we saw LEGO Super Mario, LEGO Animal Crossing, and LEGO Zelda, it seemed impossible, but now...? Can't help but feel like anything is possible!
@Serpenterror These things have nothing to do with each other. Sony Pictures has nothing to do with Sony Interactive Entertainment. Different Sony subsidiaries don't really work together at all. Sony Music for example makes it's own games that are sometimes Switch exclusive. There is no "favour" thing going on here at all.
Saw it live. Definitely getting on the Switch. Pretty cool. I still haven't finished Horizon: Zero Dawn as I got bored but will try to get through it now.
Let it be known that I am also against charm and fun. Only serious, dense, and dry from now on!
@OldGamer999,
I think you are overthinking things a little, outside of making money off a Lego version of the game, the rest seems a stretch to be honest, and the game will be sold on the PS5 and Series X as well, plus these are not massive sellers in the first place.
You did lose me a little when you said big persons console, as the Switch demographic is already pretty wide.
The previous two games were overshadowed by Zelda releases, so it'd be funny if that happens again with a Zelda remake or remaster.
I'm curious how Lego writes these contracts and is able to make their own Batman movies and put a Sony IP on Nintendo. Will we be seeing Lego Mario Galaxy on PS5?
@Not_Soos
yeah while a pipe dream i would also love to see some of those classics make their way, also the older ratchet and clank games and ape escape.
for me a personal fave IP which iirc sony owns is the wild arms series, would have loved to have seen those on switch.
again while unlikely its more a dream situation.
