Thanks but I’ll find them myself
Metroid Dread? Never heard of it...
I'll likely come back here when I'm stuck on something but will try to clear a solid playthrough without the help
Excited to come back here when I get stuck at every single boss and need more energy tanks or upgrades
@Jimmy_G_Buckets same here. gonna try and beat it old school…without the help of the internet
My God, you guys. You've overloaded the front page of NL with Metroid Dread guides!
How are we supposed to find anything else!
I'll be trying my best not to use a guide for this.
After a long days work, I was looking forward to playing Metroid.
My first impression: I'm not that far in, but so far...I'm disappointed. It feels linear and gimmicky. Again, I'm not that far in, but I feel like I'm running in circles. Here's a door, that you can't open, there's a door you can't open, here's a door that you're not fast enough to enter, here's a room that's to cold, here's another room...but it's to hot. What ever happened to actual exploration, the deterrent being tough enemies or platforming that will kill you quickly, if you're not powered up?
Anyway...that's my two cents. I really hope this game gets better.
This guide isn't organized well, listing everything by area instead of chronologically makes it hard to tell where to go next when you need to backtrack. I've gotten the Space Jump for example and I'm totally lost as to where to go next, but there's no real instruction on what to do in the guide. It's not just enough to list the locations of each powerup in the area, you need to know what the next one is and how to get there.
@PROPS isn't encountering "locks" that you have to find "keys" for a basic characteristic of a metroidvania? What you seem to prefer sounds more like something out of a sandbox /open world game like fallout or something🤔
@PurpleSquirrel64 To answer your question, yes. But a followup to my initial impression...the game does open up and exploration no longer "feels" linear. I was worried though, that the game was going to give the illusion of being a gigantic, semi - open world, but in fact, become extremely linear. And honestly, I'm a HUGE fan of metriodvania games. Growing up with these games, I dreamed of exploring expansive maps, with back tracking only required, to find additional power up's and weapons you may have had difficulty acquiring early in the game.
For example, I like the idea of seeing a power up, slightly beyond your reach, without obstructions. With some well timed morph ball bombs or some tricky wall jumps, that power up could be yours! What gets old, is playing a game that gives the illusion of being expansive, but in actuality, it's extremely linear. It's been a really long time since I played the original metroid 1 & 2, but I do recall, acquiring power up's out of order. In the first, I believe you can aquire the ice or wave beam in any order.
Thanks for the guide! That final boss was hard! Did you guys figure out everything yourself?
Amazing game, I wish it was a bit longer. Also, some bosses / parts where a bit repetitive IMO... This game be like: I heard you like Chozo soldiers, here's some more Chozo soldiers. Overall a great experience though!
Is it possible to get the Morph Ball Bomb before visiting Kraid ?
@Scrubicius Yes it is, check out the Kraid boss guide and we've added a section that details how.
@Bolt_Strike
Well said. I’m so frustrated with this online guide. I miss the old school guidebook copy from the store. The thicker the book the better the game. I enjoy using the guide. I don’t like spending days running around shooting every wall to find a missile tank or the next upgrade.
@Jamiesbreed I agree they are less of a guide book more as a hint.
I do like how they resolved the Maps here for Super Metroid: https://www.snesmaps.com/maps/SuperMetroid/SuperMetroidMapMaridia.html
I hate it how people treat am2r like it was an official game. Perhaps I'll create my own amr game by just stealing graphics and movement programming from Zero Mission and edit them a bit... at least the guy behind am2r haven't earned any cash from his theft I HOPE.
Edit: apparently this went into a wrong comment section. Oh well, my opinion stands.
