Publisher Live Wire has today revealed a handful of shmup titles that are seeing tasty discounts throughout the holiday season of up to 50%.
The publisher's Christmas sale is now live on the Switch eShop and will be running until 3rd January 2024 — plenty of time to pick up any of the ones that catch your eye, we'd say.
Chief among the games included this year is the brilliant Radiant Silvergun, which is currently available at half-price, but that's not all. As a part of the sale, Cave's shoot 'em up titles are seeing their first-ever discount of this size, so if you are curious to see what the genre has to offer, this would be a good chance to dive in.
Here is the selection of titles appearing in the Live Wire Christmas sale:

You guys must have read my mind! My father's been looking for shmups on sale- we were literally just talking about it 😂
Time to finally try Radiant Silvergun and be reminded that I have no business trying to play hardcore shmups!
Very tempting... but I have soooo many shmups I'm not sure if my backlog can handle more right now.
For some reason Radiant Silvergun wasn't on my wishlist though, so I'm going to investigate it and then maybe cave in and buy it. 😝
These are all classics, do give them a try if you're into action games generally. RSG is methodical puzzle action, the rest are high speed bullet hell. Cave's shmups are among the best arcade games ever
How intense is Radiant Silvergun? I bought Ikaruga on GameCube and loved the idea of it, but it was too hard to be fun for me.
I think i have all of these but i will double check.
I spent a little more than I should buying all those titles physically - as cool as it would be to have instant digital access to Radiant or Mushi-hime, I can’t afford to double-dip.
These games all kick my aged butt though. I think I just have to swallow my pride and play on easy mode. Then I can relax and enjoy the lovely art and music.
Ikaruga was the only hardcore shmup that I enjoyed but I'm not sure if I have any nerves left to play RSG. I did want to play it back in the day... I think I've gotten too old now LOL
