@Krillin Thanks so much for the honesty! Although I think I would enjoy those games, I may just suck it up and wait until ARMS for my next purchase. Plus there are other games coming out later I definitely should put aside money for (i.e. Xenoblade 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2 and Skyrim)
Edit: And I do own MK8 for Wii U so do not think I'll buy it again UNLESS I somehow find it on sale later on in the Switch Lifespan. Would have bought it if it expanded the Battle mode to have more tracks (8 seems a bit stingy) or added one or two more cups
I've got $27 bucks to use on the eshop, so I was wondering which of these you think I should get: Shovel Knight, Wonder Boy, or Fast RMX. I've heard good things about all of them, but I don't know which I should get. I've never played any of these games. Also, if there is something else you think I should get, go ahead and recommend it; I'm open to anything.
@detwijon I would say get shovel knight, it comes with all the dlc and there is still free dlc planned, each story can take up to 10 hours. If you love F zero then buy fast RMX. I haven't played wonder boy so I can't judge that one.
@detwijon I agree with Darkswabber. I have both Wonder Boy and Shovel Knight, and reckon they're pretty much of equal quality - but Shovel Knight offers a lot more game. Three separate campaigns, masses of achievements - it just has more bang for your bucks. Wonder Boy is good though. Shantae is up there too, by all accounts.
Thanks for the suggestions! I ended up buying Shovel Knight, and I'm hooked. It is actually a lot better than I'd thought it would be. I've been glued to it the last couple hours!
@Krillin@detwijon considering shantae will go the same route with dlc as shovel knights it's indeed up there too content wise. I bought it today and I'm really enjoying it, I wish the switch would get the 2 remasters too (ps4 got them I think)
If I recall right there are 2 alternative campaigns planned for shantae, from wich one is for risky boots.
I have both Wonder boy and Fast RMX, I like Wonder boy a lot more, but if you enjoy Fast RMX it will offer you much more playtime since there is no reason to continue playing Wonder boy once you beat it, replay value of WB is very low and it's not a very long game. But it is really really good. I bought Shovel knight just a few minutes ago and I'm going to try it soon. If it's ok to buy a short game for you Wonder boy is a great one.
I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee
@Fou-Lu-PL Tbh i would still go for Mario kart, I just love the fact that you can own people in mario kart anywhere, the fact that you can also go split screen with the second controller is amazing imo.
I'm through all the DLC in Disgaea 5 and just getting into chapter 2.
I've decided to stick to the new characters and use monsters as weapons. Worrying that your not playing optimally is a bit of a headache with Disgaea so I'm trying to streamline what I'm doing and just have fun with it.
Mighty Gunvolt Burst looks pretty cool, and the price is really decent. But has anybody played it? Seems to have slipped under the radar a bit. Chances are that I'll get it anyway, but we're not exactly short on 2D platformers on Switch...
@Fandabidozi It never even occurred to me to do DLC BEFORE the main game! It feels kind of disjointed. How's monsters-as-weapons going? Doesn't that reduce your party size considerably with map limits?
@NEStalgia
Yeah I'm sticking to the main cast atm so I guess ill have more characters than I can supply weapons for. That does seem a very typical Disgaea situation tho, lol.
Weapons can be combined so maybe that'll help.
I played all the DLC looking for chapter 2. Turns out you gotta talk to a prinny to unlock it. D'oh!
I played Disgaea 5 Complete up to chapter 6 when I hit a difficulty spike and barely made it through the stage with just one character alive. After that I grinded a while (repeating older stages or the randomized item world) to beat some sidequests and get stronger.
Then suddenly Summer hit my land and I took a break from gaming. It's just too hot.
Will definately get back to it though. I really liked what I played in my 40+ hours so far. Gameplay and content is really good on this one, and if you liked the story and characters from the demo the rest of it won't disappoint.
The game has many unique mechanics and features, from simple to complex, from amazing to a bit of tedious work and repetitiveness (if you want to manage every detail).
Even though the 2D art and animation is nice, the graphics may be Disgaea 5's weakest point. They're really not bad. They're just not on the same level as other Switch games like Zelda, MK8 Deluxe or ARMS.
So the only Switch Games I currently own are Zelda (amazing, currently gearing up to face Ganon), Blaster Master 0 (fun little retro title), and Snipperclips (great to play with the gf, who finds it really fun).
Other than that, I'm kinda on the fence as to what to get. I already have Mario Kart 8 for Wii U, and would like to upgrade but am holding off until I get some discount coupon for the Switch version for it to be worth it to me.
I'm a fan of RPGs, so I am thinking about Disgaea 5 complete or I am Setsuna. On the fence about arms and Splatoon 2. I played Splatoon 1 and completed its single player campaign, but never had time to get into the multiplayer.

Disgaea5 is like a 500 hour game. Fire Emblem without the fire emblem and has flair. i'm liking it so far. IT'll take me 7 years to beat prolly.
I AM SETSUNA is ok, but a little overpriced. It's like old school Chrono Trigger a little bit and it's easy.
I wish Ni No Kuni 2 was coming to Switch. Now there's a great JRPG game coming.. 1st one was excellent on PS3.
I tried the Disgaea demo like most of my other friends on the Switch, & I was pleasantly surprised! I've only played the Fire Emblem on the GBA because I was a 3DS ambassador & I really liked the gameplay, but Disgaea looked boring. But I got really into it! I'll probs get the full game someday.

Is Lego City Undercover any good? I haven't played any of the Lego games so I don't know what to expect. I've watched several videos and read some reviews, but I want some opinions from "real" people, not game critics.

The WiiU version was the best Lego game I have played, well worth getting. I understand it is a straight port in which case get it!
Switch games list,
Legend of Zelda BotW, Human resource machine, NBA Playgrounds, Street Fighter 2, Super Bomberman R, Snipperclips, Overcooked, World of Goo.
