Oh boy, the rage from those who didn't bother to read the directs description will be endless.
Physical release of Cadence of Hyrule with lots of DLC, and full reveal of Shin Megami Tensei 5, very nice.
Wow, well, that was a waste of time.
I have never been so happy to be proven wrong. This was anything but a disappointment!
Can't wait for Shin Megami Tensei V! I am so happy that it is a simultaneous release.
Skipped through it in 1 minute. Would recommend others do the same.
I quickly tap the Youtube video to speed up by 10 seconds since it was pre recorded and.... NOPE.
I found nothing interesting.
Back to play my ACNH.
Shin Megami Tensei 3 remake!! And 5! Awesome news for JRPG fans
Thanks to reading before hand what the showcase was and my lowered expectations, I was actually delightfully surprised by todays announcements. Haven't bought Cadence of Hyrule yet, but if there is a complete edition coming out that might be a definite buy.
Seriously looking like Nintendo doesn't have much coming this year & is desperate for content, the year when both Sony & Microsoft have new consoles & new games.
honestly im not the type of nintendo fan to want remakes and sequels to every game to exist or constantly want new games so im cool be grateful for what you have amirite
Lol. Well it was certainly Mini
SMTV - I’ve been waiting over three years for this! It was announced before the Switch launched. Totally made my Monday!
Nintendo is very strong with disappointments this year :3 I gotta say that they managed to sell me a PS5 :3
NOCTURNE AND SMT V!!!
Atlus, you beautiful *****!
Nothing of interest to me. Oh well.
See? They were all working on SMT the whole time AND they're bringing Nocturne too.
Stop complaining...and let's wait for 2021. So excited
Don't worry everyone we all have huge backlogs... Who needs new games.
No expectations and still I am disappointed.
Underwhelming but it was as advertised. Hoping for an actual direct soon. Because there is very little on the horizon for the rest of the year.
What even was that Mini.....
Shin Megami Tensei V was shown. I saved you all the trouble.
Nocturne? Meh. Give us a persona 1,2,3,4 and 5 ATLUS. Stop kidding.
A whole big load of nothing. Well, at least some folks will be happy about SMTV
why nintendo ... just why
This direct was actually surprisingly good. I expected a lot less.
SMT III and V! Very exciting indeed
Lol why would they announce this direct? V cool to see SMT V is indeed coming and looks good tho
Well, Shin Megami Tensei V was announced like 3,5 years ano. Good for the fans that it's finally coming.
I hope a real first party Direct is due soon, this year looks bleaker for Nintendo fans as weeks pass & speculation gets desperate & grasps at any chance for something.
Love the candance dlc. Im down for that
If you aren't a shin Megami tensei fan, it was very disappointing. For me, I was very happy with the SMT announcements, but a little disappointed that it is coming 2021.
I am speechless about Switch's 2020 line-up.
SMTV is interesting but apart from that...oof. Wans't expecting much but that really was very brief. Micro more than Mini. I don't really mind but I do have to wonder why they don't just keep stuff like this for a bigger presentation.
Sounds like big developments from Atlus really drove this Direct mini. I'm sure there's a bigger one coming, but I couldn't say when with everything going on in the world.
@KnightsTemplar Same here, if priced well. Definitely going to buy.
That probably should of waited till they had a bit more beefy of announcements. Cool if you're a fan of STM I guess, but I've yet to play one of those (Which I might if I nab that STM3 Remaster for a good price) but yeah its a very limited selection of reveals that won't appeal to a mass crowd, bar STM.
Japanese version had some other stuff, incl Atelier Ryza 2 and some Yo-Kai game.
And once again Atlus shows how unpredictable they can be... this it was really positive though!
@sixrings
Yeah, I don't mind that 2020 looks empty for Nintendo, it just could hurt Switch sales momentum badly after most people have bought Animal Crossing.
Really looks like their way of humiliating the leakers.
I have a feeling a Switch Pro will be announced in the next few months.
The week Xbox gets their "Event" and 50 game demos Nintendo drops a 10 minute mini. Good work.
@blueocean is this because there isn't anything to talk about?
TCHOUTCHOU ! Shin Megami fans, all aboard the hype train !
Nocturne et SMT 5 ! I'm so excited !
@KammyWh1te Yes.
Oh, crap with those SMT announcements. You got me again Atlus.
Definitely a niche demographic for this one, so not shocked people are disappointed. Considering that the alternative was to do absolutely nothing at all, I'd say this was a vast improvement over the absence of one.
It would be awesome if they could release these bi-weekly/monthly, so everyone can get their expectations in check for what might be announced. But something tells me, we might have these sprinkled months apart.
ALSO: I'm not optimistic about it, but they have dropped mini's before larger directs in the past. Don't count on it this year neccesarily, but this is a move they've pulled previously.
To hell big N 😠😠😠😠 10mins of my life ruined.
@Judgedean Announcing a Switch pro this year would be beyond stupid with the XBOX Series X and PS5 releasing.
Dunno why everyone is huffing and puffing, its a partner direct, ''wheres my 'insert mainline nintendo franchise that needs love here' game'' what did you all expect ... I wish there was a direct for mainline stuff already tho
@Citano I just watched the Japanese one and, if that was the one shown in the West, I would have been much more satisfied. Seems like there was just much more content in it.
...Meanwhile, 2020 is still empty so far.
Brief, but SMT news really made it for me. I've never even been all that itching for V, what with my related franchise backlog and all, but I appreciate the new data and the release window - and I particularly appreciate how the aforesaid franchise backlog just got propped by Nocturne coming Switchward. A highly welcome surprise.
@MS7000 nope, it was a disappointment
@Nintendan_91 Yeah, it's the same every time there is a "Direct mini" or "indie showcase" as well.
However Direct Minis are often followed by full Directs in a few weeks time. (except earlier this year)
Rogue company has that "Devils Third" vibe, I don't mean that as an insult as I enjoyed the multiplayer on DT quite alot. So it's on my radar. No Doom release date still, is concerning.
That direct was probably great if you're a fan of those games but disappointing for the rest of us. I'm still glad Nintendo are putting some news out there even if it isn't their own or of interest to me. Hopefully the next one will, a release date for Windjammers 2 would be great news.
I think Nintendo just inadvertently created a “Micro Direct”, that hardly even qualified as a mini.
the japan direct was longer had more games and was overall much better. we got this because japan had a good direct
was any of that worth releasing in any form of promo video?
@CourtneyDL "That direct was probably great if you're a fan of those games but disappointing for the rest of us"
You kinda just described every assorted game announcement presentation in existence.
I feel bad for the leakers
Nothing for me but I’m glad for everyone excited about the stuff announced. Cyberpunk comes out this year so I’m not too worried about games to play at the end of the year to be honest
Err... Is that it... Really..
Don't have much of an opinion on this Direct but after a couple of great years first party wise with the Switch, is incredibly disappointing to see Nintendo seemingly fall back into old habits of barely showing/releasing anything. Just seems they are slowly losing momentum but who knows, could be something big around the corner.
@sanderev Would it?? Think about it.
@Apportal I mean to be fair, if SMT does not interest you, then I can sympathise but holy heck am I overjoyed right now!
@ArtiomNLS would have been nice to have at the end the date of an actual direct. Some people act like they never get mad, never get disappointed and everyone but them is crazy. We've gone so long without news people are starving and rightfully upset. Im sure people can read as they write on this thread but they just can't believe xbox and playstation are releasing games while Nintendo is either trolling us, or essentially using covid as an excuse to not having games ready.
great! SMT 3 remaster and a new SMT 5 trailer (which looks dark as f..k) .....i am just a bit disappointed that they did not keep the european version name as Shin Metam Tensei 3: Lucifer's Call sounds more badass
Best direct evahh! On a more sirious note after seeing Atlus I was hopping for something this year...
Apparently I should have watched the Japanese one instead. Atelier Ryza 2 is easily the most exciting announcement today.
...that's it?!? Ok, Nintendo badly needs to show off something decent soon, I haven't played my Switch for a couple months because there is nothing very interesting to get.
The SMT announcement was a 10 out of 10.
The rest of that was of zero interest, but damn, SMT III remastered and a brand new SMT V!!!!
THE FACT THAT THE BEGINNING OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT HAD A COVID 19 WARNING MADE ME WANT TO PULL MY FN HAIR OUT.
Odd. I saw plenty of YouTube videos posted over the weekend by people that were sure there would be announcements of the Mario remasters today, yet no one here has even brought them up.
I guess all those Mario posters are just too disappointed to even comment yet.
@kingbk somehow the original PS2 game looks better than this remaster ...
I'm just here for all the people complaining about a company not announcing a boatload of video games during a world-wide pandemic that has severally disrupted nearly every single industry on the planet.
@ArtiomNLS stop telling people how to feel and go ack to playing ACNH or Paper Mario
@Judgedean Yes, absolutely. It will get no press coverage, except for the core Nintendo sites (like this one). And even in stores it won't be able to compete against the next-gen consoles.
I think waiting to Holiday 2021 and releasing it alongside BOTW2 and/or SMO2 and/or Mario Kart 9 would be required for it to be a success.
@Jimsbo well..not possible as this Direct was about to show some 3rd party games...the Mario franchise is Nintendo's series
Good news with the physical copy of Candence, and the Shin Megami games, but definitively not the Direct mini i was hyping forward to.
I see Nintendo had nothing in the works but has decided to milk a year old game with DLC... I get the world was turned upside down, but then just don’t have a mini direct! Nintendo has been mediocre this year and to frank PS5 is looking real good right now. I’m a Nintendo fan boy until I die but damn this is rough.
What a waste, they are just not trying anymore, just like the Treehouse, compeltely pointless
@BestNerdLife Somehow the competition, Playstation AND Xbox are managing to release brand new systems with games during this world-wide pandemic that has severally disrupted nearly every single industry on the planet.
@TDRsuperstar2 It was a partners direct. Not aimed at Nintendo 1st party titles!
What a steaming pile of cow dung
Nintendo could've dropped trailers today for the Shin Megami Tensei games and Cadence of Hyrule DLC and people wouldn't have really batted an eye. But because they had this Direct Mini, the backlash is going to be immense.
I was kind of underwhelmed by the contents, but honestly, SMT is kind of a big deal, and the Cadence DLCs are kinda nice too. Dunno, can't be angry, was literally what it said on the tin. I agree with the comment above that all these things would probably be better off with regular trailer drops.
They better keep adding stuff to Animal Crossing. So far there's nothing else coming out in 2020.
@RobotReptile They have actually used that term in the past. Hosted by Bill Trinen June 1st, 2015 as a precursor to their E3 presentation a week later. Was 17 minutes long with 8 announcements which included new games as well as DLC updates.
https://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct/06-01-2015/#/video-ndirect
@nhSnork Haha very true although I did use to feel like there was at least one announcement that appealed to me but the chances of that have dwindled significantly in recent years.
The japanese direct featured a few more games hahaha. Anyways, would have liked to see some news for Hollow Knight:Silksong, but since there are more showcases, nothing to worry about here. SMT is awesome, can't wait though! Still hope for a bigger direct soon or at the very least some news about their first party games
Wow. Not even an update on Bravely Default II.
100 comments in only 30 minutes? I guess this direct was quite controversial
I love the way people are already saying Sont and Microsoft released their new consoles when they're not even out yet. That's putting the carriage before the horse. Also almost every major game has been delayed this year no matter who published.
I hate to say it but that was incredibly underwhelming and I wasn't expecting much at all.
Please just release some Mario games. Once a month until the end of the year. You don't even need to remaster them. Just give me Mario 64 for Christ sake.
@sanderev I see it the other way:
1/ Nintendo doesn't want to lose momentum
2/ Vanilla Switch will look even more under powered
3/ Even for Nintendo, they have been unusually quite
...and my dad's friend's step-sister works for Nintendo.
Just wait a few months, and you will see.
lmfao...
welp. time to get on with my day
@lordzand Sony started doubling p5 production last week while Microsoft has stopped production on their One x and One s AD edition. I'd bet my life those systems come out this year.
They should rename it to ‘Nintendo Direct Micro’
Edit: Just seen this joke has already been done. B’stard
SMT III and V! Nice.
The Japanese direct had more games, including Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin. I'm curious about that one. I don't know why they didn't include that game in the direct we got, it's already confirmed to be coming west.
ETA: I don't mind that there aren't too many Nintendo games coming this year. I have a huge backlog, not only for Switch, but for the 3DS and Vita too. For example, I want to play LoH: Trails of Cold Steel before I play the sequels. I'm still playing Animal Crossing a little bit everyday. I just started playing Forager and Hollow Knight. I really like both but Hollow Knight is hard...either that or I'm no good at action platformers. Could be both.
I mean, what did people expect? Mario Sunshine 2? Zelda BOTW 3 ( I mean 2)? F-Zero?
Nintendo stated that it'll be 3rd-party mini direct before the show, and some interpreted it it will be a full blast 1st party direct with unrealistic expectations. Some people need to learn how to read because it's becoming annoying now.
Anyway, this direct was "OK", not abysmal nor great, but it's within my expectation. Shin Megami Tensei V is something that I thought I would see, but not a remake of the third game.
Underwhelming. But everything Nintendo does these days is UNDERWHELMING.
@sixrings Bit of a false equivalent there because Nintendo isn't releasing a new console this year therefore bloating your claim that Sony & Xbox are fairing better. But ok.
Not impressed. But the Cadence of Hyrule DLC was cool I guess.
@BestNerdLife I will take Ghost of Tsushimi, Last of Us 2, Spiderman Miles Moraes and a new system over Paper Mario, ACNH, Xenoblade Definitive edition.
Three new games versus two new games and one definitive edition. Thats the best I can do for an apples to apples comparison. Way to keep everything in perspective though. Slow clap.
nintendo is having a turd of a year! seriously animal crossing thats been the only thing worth buying. even paper mario has been turned into a kids game! you can not live with a switch as your main system if this continues and as ps5 draws closer the switch is gonna get further eclipsed. I love my switch so much but im desperate to have something to play on it.
30k likes and 30k dislikes on YouTube. I'm more meh. Not disappointed but not over happy. Thing that I didn't like was the more from this series quote on direct minis. Nintendo is obviously sitting on some games as honestly if what we've seen so far was there E3 lineup then it would have been quite depressing. They will surprise us with something this year. Fingers crossed for full fat Direct in the future.
Solid showcase. Only low point for me was WWE. Lol
@Apportal sorry for that one...
The million dollar question is when will we get a Direct that focuses on First Party games?
Facepalm. Just facepalm Nintendo .
@Don you haven’t gotten that ever with the switch. Don’t count on it.
@Beermonkey The Switch already has more games than the Wii U ever had. Or have you already completed all of them?
Short and sweet, nice to hear about Nocturne coming and finally some news on Shin Megami Tensei V. Now all they need is port Shin Megami Tensei IV and IV Apocalypse to Switch and remastered Shin Megami Tensei I, II, and if then we'll get all the main SMT games on Switch.
I’m glad to have a ps4
CoH DLC looked well worth it. Im sure ill give RC a try since it’s free to play. Like the idea of AI opponents and not all just PvP. WWE Battlegrounds looks really fun. That’s definitely something I could see enjoying with my kids. Any 4-player game usually draws our interest quickly.
@Bmartin001 Figuratively speaking.
Well...it was exactly what we were told it would be. Being disappointed due to our own hype train about it is all on us. I gotta say though to me that WWE part looked awkward. Must have been even more awkward to film it.
@RustedHero I was thinking the same thing. Those guys are pretty diehard gamers, and that game looks bad. They just proved they're pretty good actors. lol
@BestNerdLife I think you missed his point that how are we supposed to be feeling surprised when the competition is able to deliver more products during COVID? I think myself it’s ok to feel disappointment and not account for the virus impact because ppl are nowadays more so looking to the Big N and other developers for more joy. No one has forgotten COVID, trust me.
That being said, I thought the mini was good but don’t know how I feel about it being like a “taste” of a bigger fuller one. Makes me think a fuller one is coming soon.
Well the rumor was right, there was a direct today..
"It's a Partner Direct Mini, what did you expect?"
For starters, for it not to be a Partner Direct Mini.
SMT 3 & 5 were great news, but these could have just been five separate trailers released throughout today.
@sixrings I actually rather agree with this. I have so many games I bought when they were on sale for 70 to 90% off that I haven't even started yet. I get sucked into Splatoon 2, Rocket League, or Animal Crossing and forget to play the others.
I just realized over the weekend I haven't finished Lifeless Planet. I need to finish that. Maybe the story ends badly, but I've gotten pretty far so would like to see the conclusion. Same goes for "The Messenger". I really like it, but still have like 4 levels left. Then on to the other 40 games I haven't started.
...
Nothing for me in this one. Gosh, hope something interesting comes up soon.
@e-love are you.... making fun of this directs HIGHLIGHT!!!
I appreciate the explanation @magrane on what @sixrings is meant to be saying but my whole point is that it doesn't matter what any company is coming out with at the moment. We are here complaining at each other about games, consoles and all other manner of things that might or might not be coming out.
Looking towards the Big N and other developers to deliver the same quality products etc right now is daft and is putting huge amounts of pressure and expectations on every single person involved. Same with Xbox and Sony. If they don't deliver a console or game or whatever this year. Big woop. I can wait. I'd rather have things delayed as long as the individual people are alright, and not suffering things like burnout or financial hardship or whatever.
That's me keeping things in perspective.
@SoIDecidedTo Its great that Nintendos Eshop managed to sell you more games than you could play but doesn't excuse new games from being released.
Clearly, this mini was just to Atlus requested announcements. Well... This time was really a mini. The first one had lots of things.
@BestNerdLife no one is in denial of covid and how it manages to make work difficult. It is true that in perspective videogames are not the be all and end all. That said if Nintendo really wants to not release anything then it should be honest and make a statement "enjoy our backlog for 2020 while we work at starting 2021 strong" or something like that instead of having its fan base desperate for information.
I think this all get back to what you think a company owes you. Some people think that the company doesn't owe anyone anything and that the consumers need to be more measured. On the other hand it is us consumers that make Nintendo billions by purchasing their products and as a result the company should respect that the community has become restless.
@BlueOcean lol so is nintendo 😂
minus Atlus, these other games are on the scale of Bakugon. Nintendo is really scraping the bottom of the barrel here
@KammyWh1te You must be new to the site. At least every week there are over a dozen new downloads, plus have you seen the eShop? Isn’t there something like 1400 titles in there now?
@sixrings
Sony has had more than that this year. They also had FF7 Remake, Dreams and Nioh 2. Plus Yakuza 7 is a (likely) timed exclusive later this year.
To be fair to Nintendo, they also had Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Clubhouse Games and Paper Mario with Bravely Default 2 on the way.
Still, there’s no question that Nintendo is having a disappointing year compared to the competition.
@NintendoByNature 😂
I skipped thru the hole presentation to see if there were anything cool, there wasn't.
@CourtneyDL that is always the case
Did I miss anything? Did the announce release dates for Bayonetta 3,Doom Eternal, and No More Heroes 3? Did they drop a bombshell like a Nier or Borderlands 3 announcement? How about those mystery EA games? Or maybe Mario remaster announcements even though they said they wouldn't. Hope it is not another Bakugan disastrous announcement with some DLC or some obscure game with a small following. 😉
@RushDawg Tokyo Mirage Sessions was a port. I like my clubhouse games but we can't put it anywhere near the category of Ghost, or Last of us.
@sixrings Ha, I will admit, they could be more transparent with their plans. Nobody really knows what they have planned. Except Nintendo. And Nintendo do what they want to do. Do do.
If we are talking about who Nintendo owes what, i'm pretty sure they owe the people who make their products more than the people who buy them right now. I'd rather see the developers/manufacturers/designers/what-ever-else-ers be compensated for their work and looked after by a massive company with a massive amount of resources, even if that means delaying games and losing the company some money. And in turn respect the fans for not turning out garbage, rushed games.
I'm a huge fan. Of Nintendo, Sony and Xbox. For all my faults. But I don't expect any of them to owe me anything.
Also, have you played Ghost of Tsushimi yet? Hope you enjoy.
Congratulations to Nintendo on literally the worst Direct ever. I honestly would have preferred to have had no Direct over this one – it was truly barren. Even the Mini Direct earlier in the year was leaps and bounds better than this one.
Seriously Nintendo – unless you’ve got some first party announcements then just hold off rather than trying to put together rubbish Directs.
I love reading these complaints about Nintendo having no games, when Paper Mario just came out yesterday, and they've been consistently releasing solid games all year on a regular schedule (Paper Mario, Clubhouse Games, Brain Training, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles). They usually wait until a big game has launched, and then shortly after they announce their next big game that will come out in a couple months. So, now that Paper Mario is out, I'd expect them to announce the next big thing any day now.
@sixrings
Xenoblade was a port too and you included it in your list.
Not saying that Clubhouse games is on the same level as Ghost of Tsushima, just comparing exclusive titles for each system.
Hey, It's hard to sell me on JRPGS that don't rhyme with "When-o-grade Straw-Nickels" but I'm too busy with Paper Mario to care, and people who do love RPGS will be happy this year.
For those of you who were waiting for BotW 2. Can you at least appreciate that they've announced SOME Zelda content this year?
@sixrings
That is so true, i can't finish my backlog even when the switch lifespan ends
@Zeropulse I’m so sorry to nitpick but you can’t definitely maybe buy a game. Oasis were off their heads on drugs. What’s your excuse 😉.
There's 8 minutes I'll never get back. Yeesh. And yes I read the description and my expectations were low. Nintendo exceeded those expectations by going even lower.
Well that was.....nothing
@sanderev I'm not knocking Nintendo. They have done remarkable things with the switch and I'm a day one owner. I'm perfectly happy with my Wii U as well and the amount of games it had. Just I have indeed completed nearly all the games I have and want (again thanks to the portability of the switch) and would love some new spanking Nintendo games. That make me entitled... Possibly but come on who doesn't want more Nintendo games as they are amazing! I have a mass back catalogue on my Xbox one and a steam list the size of my arm. That doesn't make me not hungry for some more Nintendo IP.
@gazamataz It is a fair nitpick. I starred at those two words before I posted it, but thought, no one's gonna notice.
@BestNerdLife i agree, don't they realize that the pandemic is still going on right now and everything is not back to normal yet. So they should quit complaining.
Great news with regard to SMT. I will gobble up those games.
CoH DLC cool.
Certainly was a MICRO direct, wasn't it? Ahem
@Zeropulse I admire that kind of laziness . It reminds me of younger me. Have a wonderful evening 👍🏻
Wow....that was just pitiful. A couple of crap Indy announcements and the SMT games are not even out until 2021. Apparently when Altus showed SMT V in the launch window they had pretty much ZERO done as the game is going to come out more than 4 years after launch? Surely the worlds number 1 selling console for almost 2yrs straight has more in development than this sad showing? The 'model' for the Switch has pretty much been the same since launch....something big in the first 1/2 of the year and then several big things for the holiday season. They can still save the day by giving us a full direct and announcing something big for Q4. This year has not been bad so far with Animal Crossings and Paper Mario and FE story DLC from Nintendo and then many great ports from 3rd party. I mean the Bioshock, Borderlands, and Metro releases really fleshed out the FPS genre and getting Burnout helped the racing niche. Nintendo is really playing it close the vest this year as since Paper Mario we have no idea of anything they are working on other than Z_BOTW2, Bayo3 and MP4. Maybe they will spring the next Zelda on us for this years big holiday release? I mean it likely started development in 2017 so 3yrs for a sequel that is using the same game engine is not out of the question. Still so many ports I would love to see. I mean why not bring GTA5 to Switch....it ran on last gen hardware so certainly one of the good port teams could get it running nicely on Switch and the game is still selling on other platforms to this day. Who knows what the mystery EA titles are but a Dragon Age and Mass Effect compilations would be awesome and many people would love to see Madden and SIMS as well. I have not lost faith in Nintendo or the 3rd party support for Switch but this mini-direct was just a total joke and just seemed like something they threw together because the natives are getting restless.
And we have the haters and the whiners on one column again. either everybody is upset about that the direct is too small. or the direct didn't have the games that they was looking for, or nintendo sucks this year and sony is doing so great (ha ha). well i am going to say this, don't be surprised if nintendo makes you all eat those words when they come out with some good games the rest of the year.
@ekwcll from a four switch house I hope you are right. Bad enough one switch collecting dust. I don't need four of them.
@KammyWh1te I expect when the new systems arrive, Nintendo will have a price drop and release the SMB remaster collection along with BotW 2 in short order. They'll be fine.
@patbacknitro18 That's what I came to see, I wasn't disappointed...
I had zero expectations and I was still disappointed.
Wheres my p5 on switch?
@KammyWh1te yep... pretty much sums it up. I bet Metroid 4 was initially supposed to come out this year🤔
Well, I have such a backlog of games, the lack of games for the year wouldn't bother me. Seriously...I have too many😕
@Hobbesyall it's always a good idea to have a PS5 for when (not if) Nintendo does a Nintendo, like it's doing for a few months now.
What a terrible showing.
@ekwcll oh dont worry, the dissapointment wont dissappear just like that when they release BotW2, they still kept us with literally nothing new for months and months
Good show for fans of SMT, not so great for everyone else.
Just to let everyone know NintendoEverything has shown that the Fzero Twitter account is a fake and it is likely the 35th Mario anniversary account is fake as well.
Glad for SMTV, not too happy with the 2021 release
https://nintendoeverything.com/f-zero-twitter-account-rumored-to-be-tied-to-nintendo-debunked-as-unofficial/
@KammyWh1te they could at least tell us what's coming...that was a bummer. Got hyped up for a let down.
For what it was, it was good. However, it shouldn't have been this. A 3rd party only Direct when there are almost no Nintendo games to look forward to? It's bound to piss people off.
@Beetoe I'm actually relieved. It had been so long since they said anything about SMTV, I was worried that the bean counters cancelled it in favor of just porting Playstation games instead. After all, judging from the comments section of NL, I get the impression most people would have been fine with cancelling SMTV if they released Persona instead. And it would be easy money for Atlus. I almost panicked when I saw Nocturne because I thought maybe that was the consolation prize.
@TheFox Yes, I understand. And let me add I wouldn't swap SMTV with P5, I'd obviously love both, but more than happy with two SMT releases!!
It’s amusing how wrong rumors were, but they still managed to get the date right. I feel for the non RPG fans, without Atlus this was lackluster.
@sanderev here's hoping, been a lackluster year so far
@sixrings I understand your point, but I can only play games about an hour to 2 hours a day. So based on the number of Switch games and Wii U games I have yet to play that I want to, not to mention the games I started but haven't finished that I want to... looking your way Wii U Tokyo Mirage...
If they literally didn't release a new switch game for 2 years, I'd be more than content with content. I understand others always want the next big thing, but I really appreciate all of the great games that have already come out. Like I need to finish Odyssey as well. And sadly enough I need to start Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Wii. I LOVED the 1st one.
So short version is, I understand people always want new games and new announcements, but with my limited 10 to 15 hours a week of playing, I could literally not buy a game for the next 10 years and be more than happy with everything already released.
Not saying this excuses them from not having more games to come out, but I don't "Need" any to be happy. With that said, today's direct was very underwhelming for me.
I'm the same way with movies and tv shows as well though. If there wasn't a single new film released in the next ten years, I have more than enough I want to see that I still need to watch. I understand MOST people have way more than 10 to 15 hours a week for entertainment, but I work every single day so am thankful for the little time I do have.
Thanks for writing.
Good for SMT3 getting remastered.
Though SMT1 in localization form still remains exclusive to the iOS. (though I've heard about a particular thing in SMT2 that might keep it from ever reaching North America officially, so I wouldn't get hopes on that one.)
@Nintendan_91 Lackluster?
Animal Crossing.
There has always been a direct after the summer break. Sometimes late august, sometime in september. This year we will get one as well.
@BestNerdLife Fair, your altruism is duly noted, but I respectfully disagree. Safety first of course, but now more than ever there’s a circumstance and good explanation on the clamor: required home isolation and economic downturn escapism. I think it’s good to have some sort of pressure for the developers to step up their game.....all of course under the banner it’s done safely. Impatient ppl will always have a reason to complain.
I believe we can all be patient though for a great game to unfold regardless of the current hardships. But this kind of fire in the industry is what not only widens its customer base but also spur creativity among developers.
