Topic: Xenoblade Chronicles 3

For me, I was the other way around. I was really gripped by 1, but 2 made it hard for me to finish. Didn't help that 2 kinda didn't explain it's mechanics, and shot itself in the foot with the story at times. I hope 3 takes the best elements of both the original and 2, and ends up having a more serious plot.

I'm one of those people who enjoyed both games and gets surprised when people say they liked one and disliked the other. Sure, there are differences in the tone of the story and the game mechanics, but they've got way more in common.

XCX is a very different game though. I can see why that wouldn't click with everyone.

So apparently, blood returned. In one frame of the trailer, when Noah gets his by Mio, it actually draws blood.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through XC2, how dangerous is this thread? Should I step out? I've played and beaten XC:DE and Future Connected, so no worries there.

This announcement was a great way to end the Direct.

@Tyranexx Yeah, this is a dangerous dangerous thread. It's probably best to beat 2 and Torna before returning.

I have to say I was more into the fue (flutes) connection. Like I have to know...and I am looking forward to the OST for new music to play. lol

Beaten Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii, as a completely unknowing fifth grader, it turned out to be one of my all time favourite games. Played X and it was amazing but storytelling wise not on the same level. That game had incredible graphics for an open world Wii U game, and it put rival games like Witcher 3, on more powerful systems, to shame. It was huge and addicting to come back to. And 2 was just a really good time with one of the best DLC expansions I have ever seen, with great characters and environments.

Seems this game is gonna be some epic fusion of all three elements. It’s the cliff view that can tell us how good this game is gonna be.

I'm late but take a look at the official art of the characters shown so far!

I'm loving these designs so far, the cast is looking great.

@TowaHerschel7 I don't think that it really was Dunban. It looked like Zeke but if he fused with Vandham.

@DomGC To me, it looked more akin to Xenoblade Definitive Edition, but I think it's more just a fusion of Definitive Edition and Xenoblade 2. I was watching a friend play Xenoblade 2 while I looked at some pictures of 3, and the art style looks more realistic than 2.

@DomGC The middleground that's present here is generally great. More grounded character designs mixed with a style that's a general fusion of the other two games.

Character designer is the same as in 2.

Much like Torna, it feels like a much more restrained take on that aesthetic, which I'm fine with.

Really curious what the combat system is like in this one. I guess it's too much to hope for a refined version of the system in XC2, but we'll see. As long as I'm not being assailed with magical sword visions and have a reliable way to heal, I'll be happy.

I've been thinking about this reveal literally all day man. I just realized at the 1:01 mark in the trailer it looks like the player is navigating a boat? I'm assuming this means we'll have other ways to explore the world now?

@DomGC I guess they figured that everyone playing this game will already know that 2 and 1 aren't Fantasy games, so they'd lean on this aspect that the end of 2 went for, and that FC went for.

@Ralizah I honestly think the Designer for 2 shines more here, now that their art isn't conflicting with different artist's work as well.

As for the combat, at long as it's fast paced, and the tutorials are better, then I'll be happy. I just want to be able to move around in fights without it being sluggish, so I can get more back-attacks and side-attacks in.

I just hope they have 1’s armor/costume system.I want to do a run with the characters wearing weird outfits.

Wasn't Xenoblade Chronicles 2 a weird outfit run by default?
